A message from State Senator-elect Dr. Chistopher Ottiano:
To my Constituents, Friends, Neighbors and Colleagues,It is my privilege to report that my first six months in the State Senate were an incredibly educational and challenging experience. I am honored to represent both Portsmouth and Bristol; I hope that you feel I represented you well. The process by which our state government functions is very time consuming. Nevertheless, it is a position I regard with the utmost responsibility. I attended 63 of the 64 sessions; one of which was missed due to a business meeting that could not be moved.
As over one thousand bills crossed my desk, I made sure to give each one its due diligence and a fair vote that represented what would serve our state in the best way. As you know, several controversial issues were a major part of this past session. One of particular importance was the “Binding Arbitration” bill. Armed with very clear resolutions from the Portsmouth and Bristol school committees and superintendents, I felt very confident that voting “NO” was the right thing to do. One upcoming bill involves the complex issue of pension reform, which for this fall remains of paramount importance to the legislature.
I have been committed to staying in close contact with all of you by having routine office hours which you may have seen advertised. Additionally, I have been going to speak at all the local civic groups which have helped me in the past. My mantra has, and will continue to be, “ELECTED OFFICIALS SHOULD NOT ONLY BE AROUND DURING ELECTION YEARS”. I hope you will always feel that you can email me or call anytime for information or any help.
I am writing at this time to ask your assistance in strengthening my ability to be in this position to represent you. I will be planning a face to face fund-raiser for next year, but I would greatly appreciate your help now. Please consider sending a $50 donation either by mail or electronically through PayPal. Thank you in advance for being involved and caring about how our state moves into the future.
With your best interests at heart
Senator Christopher Ottiano
